Mega ReFuel Highlight Reel
Awesome KidMin did a thing this week, and it was a really awesome thing. We took our fabulous in-person event and hosted a similar event ONLINE. You may be scratching your head and wondering what you missed! No worries, I’m going to tell you AND there is no need for FOMO (fear of missing out)...I’ll let you know about that at the end, so read on dear friends!
1. GATHERTOWN - this platform was used for attendees to interact with each other, hear speakers and engage with sponsors of our event. Everyone had their own little customizable avatar that you could guide around the venue. When you came near someone else, their real self would pop up on screen and you could chat with them or join a conversation, just like you would IRL (in real life).
2. MAINSTAGE - when we had the IRL conference we recorded the main speakers (Josh Denhart, Joyce Rees, and Christie Penner Worden) and had the opportunity to hear the words of wisdom that they shared previously. For me, who attended the IRL conference this was a huge highlight since I had missed some of their talks. It was so good to be able to take that in again in a more relaxed way.
3. SPONSOR BOOTHS - I heard from at least one sponsor that they absolutely LOVED engaging with attendees on this platform. Even if the sponsor wasn’t at their table, you could still interact with their pre-loaded information. Genius! Our amazing sponsors keep the costs down and allow us to pass those benefits on to you. They are a huge highlight of all of our events.
4. BREAKOUTS - all of the breakouts were hosted live and WOW were they great. I couldn’t attend all of them of course but the three that I was able to participate in were so rich with tools and wisdom for the work of ministry that I’m involved in, not only as ministry personnel but for my parenting and other relationships that I have.
5. ATTENDEES - I was able to meet new people from across the country!
6. TIMING - the MEGA REFUEL event happened at a great time in my own ministry calendar when things were a little quieter and it wasn’t difficult to carve out time during the week to attend from the comfort of my own space.
7. PRICE - what an amazing value for such rich content. And no travel or accommodation issues!
8. TECH SUPPORT - I was impressed with how the back-end team set everything up, they really did their homework and tried to answer all the questions in advance. The tutorial on how to engage with the Gather platform was super helpful and clear, which was an excellent thing for anyone who was tech-challenged. [insert WILD APPLAUSE for the back-end team]
8.5 HOSTS AND SPEAKERS - The savvy hosts guided everyone through the ins and outs of getting in and out of rooms, in and out of Zoom, in and out of, well, everything. I couldn’t let them go unmentioned!
9. NOT OVER - the ReFuel vibe isn’t over! Awesome Kidmin hosts ReFuels throughout the year, the next one is Thursday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. (CDT). We’ll take a break for the summer and then we’ll be back with more great content to fill up your cup.
