In the early months of 2016, a group of Children’s Ministry leaders and volunteers came together with the common desire to see a local children’s ministry conference here in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Our first-ever conference, held at Riverwood Church in Winnipeg. It was a celebration of our common goal: to make our awesome God known to His precious kids through our awesome calling as kids ministry workers.
Recognizing the particular needs that those with the task of overseeing a Children’s Ministry have, we kicked off our conference with “Leadership Labs” – 3-hour intensives on Friday during the day. Then, Friday evening, our Main Conference for all Kidmin Volunteers and leaders began, and ran through to Saturday afternoon.
Karl Bastian (‘The Kidologist’) was our keynote speaker at our mainstage building. Breakout sessions, taught by dozens of local Kidmin leaders took place at the satellite Riverwood locations – all within walking distance of the main stage. We were blessed by mild weather to make travel between buildings in November a pleasant experience. With 135 attendees and dozens of local breakout speakers, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees left energized, equipped and encouraged.
